Whelan excited as Leeds plot reported 'mouth-watering' Pereira swoop
Matheus Pereira is a “mouth-watering” footballer and would make the Leeds United forward line a “formidable” proposition.
That is according to ex-Leeds ace Noel Whelan, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after the Express reported that the Whites are eyeing the West Brom playmaker ahead of a potential summer swoop.
RB Leipzig and West Ham are also said to be interested in the 25-year-old Brazilian.
Pereira has impressed this season and has five goals and two assists in his last six matches for already-relegated West Brom.
Whelan claimed that Pereira would link up well with the likes of Rapinha, Rodrigo and Jack Harrison at Elland Road
“It is a mouth-watering prospect,” he told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge.

“We missed out on certain players last season, and this is a player that excites everybody. I would definitely take him all day long.
“He’s a fantastic player, he’s great on the ball, he can turn people inside out. Pereira’s another option we can use right across that front three and maybe in a number 10 role as well.
“He’s the right age and he’s the sort of player we should be looking at. Imagine, if you put him alongside Raphinha, Rodrigo, Harrison etc, that’s pretty formidable.”
Pereira signed for West Brom permanently in the summer following a successful loan spell with the Baggies in the Championship last season.
He has registered 19 goals and 25 assists in 75 appearances in total for Albion.
