Kenny tips Phillips for 'massive wage rise' after 'brilliant' Leeds talks reveal
Everyone at Leeds United will be elated that Kalvin Phillips has entered talks to sign a new contract.
So says ex-Whites shot-stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 25-year-old Elland Road fans favourite.
This site revealed on 16 September that the midfielder had entered preliminary discussions over a new deal.
The England international is contracted to Leeds until 2024 but has gone to a whole new level since he signed his last extension in September 2019.
A Leeds source told Football Insider that the plan is to ward off potential transfer interest by offering him a significant pay hike.
And a new deal for the Yorkshire born tempo-setter would be ideal for all parties, argues Kenny.

“It’s brilliant news for everyone,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.
“It will give Kalvin Phillips that stability. I am sure he’ll get a massive wage rise and a few more years on his contract.
“It also covers Leeds if someone does come in for him. They will have to pay top dollar for him.
“He is an England international now and a regular in that set-up. That will no doubt knock the price up that someone might pay for him.
“If they can get that signed and sealed, it will be a big boost for them all at Elland Road.“
Phillips made his Leeds debut in 2015 and has gone on to rack up 215 appearances for the club.
Those matches have yielded 14 goals and 13 assists.
