Leeds United will 'leave their phone off the hook' after Raphinha update - Agbonlahor

Leeds United will leave their phone “off the hook” and ignore any offers for Raphinha this summer, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Leeds cannot afford to lose Raphinha after he played a key role in their survival on the final day of the 2021-22 Premier League season.

The 25-year-old has two years left on his Whites contract but he looks unlikely to sign a new deal.

The Athletic reported earlier this week that both Arsenal and Tottenham are both targeting the winger while Chelsea are also interested in him.

It comes amid uncertainty that Barcelona will be unable to afford a deal as they currently have debts of over a £1billion and have restrictions on who they can register.

But Agbonlahor has claimed Leeds could all ignore all offers this summer as they would come close to relegation again in the 2022-23 campaign without him.

He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Leeds are probably going to really overprice him, they can’t afford to lose him.

“I can imagine Leeds are going to put their phone off the hook for the summer for anybody trying to get their players. They are not interested.

“They were so close to going down they can’t afford to lose Raphinha.”

Raphinha scored 11 times and provided three assists in 35 Premier League games in the 2021-22 season.

The Brazil international was therefore directly involved in a third of Leeds’ 42 top-flight goals as they finished 17th, just three points above the relegation zone.

In other news, Kalvin Phillips has told Leeds United he wants to sign for Man City.
