Daniel Farke gets it all wrong with reaction to Tarik Muharemovic incident vs Newcastle

Daniel Farke's Leeds United side almost had the perfect victory over Newcastle United in front of a packed-out Elland Road crowd.

Jayden Bogle, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor were all on target on Monday, 14 September, all after Lewis Miley's own goal.

Bazoumana Toure grabbed one back on what was a very miserable night for the Magpies, one which left them sitting 12th in the Premier League.

Leeds, on the other hand, have shot up to third in the table, sitting just behind Arsenal and Manchester City, still without a defeat in four games.

It was so nearly the perfect night at Elland Road, but Farke clearly still wanted more from his team following a loss of focus.

James Trafford was furious to lose his clean sheet after making several key saves, and Muharemovic will likely be just as angry with himself.

It was the new signing's failed clearance that allowed Tino Livramento to pounce on the loose ball. His deflected cross fell to Toure, who finished well.

However, the 23-year-old was basically faultless in his performance until that point, and did not deserve to be spotlighted for his mistake.

The goal really shouldn't have mattered. Yet, Farke was clearly unhappy. Rather than get angry, a far more sensible approach would have been better.

Speaking live on Sky Sports (14 September, 9:51pm), Don Goodman said: "Daniel Farke's reaction was fury. Muharemovic has had an almost perfect game.

"He couldn't get the clearance and Toure just picks it up. It's a consolation for Newcastle."

At 23 years old, Muharemovic is still at an age where confidence can skyrocket, before plummetting one week later, and Farke could be the cause of that this time around.

With Joe Rodon injured, Farke cannot afford for his defenders to lose form or question their abilities. Having been four goals up at the time, the manager let his emotions get the better of him.

Where are Leeds expected to finish in the Premier League?

Very few would have expected such a positive start to proceedings at Elland Road, but it just keeps getting better for Farke's team.

According to Opta, Leeds are likely to finish seventh in the Premier League table, one place above their Monday night opposition.

The Whites have a 16.49 per cent chance of securing Champions League football, expecting to finish the campaign on 53 points come May.

At the other end of the table, Leeds' chances of relegation are at 6.06 per cent, with Premier League safety not currently a concern at Elland Road.
