Daniel Farke's past comments could make for an entertaining opening day fixture for Leeds against Nottingham Forest.

Leeds will travel to the City Ground to take on Vitor Pereira's side in a 3PM kick off on Saturday 22 August.

Both clubs battled against each other to maintain their Premier League status during the 2025-26 season, and both will have aspirations to move away from the relegation zone this time around.

Leeds ended the season as one of the divisions in-form teams, remaining unbeaten in eight league matches before their final day defeat at West Ham.

Farke has already publicly spoken about his desire to strengthen the squad this summer, and the club have managed to tie captain Ethan Ampadu down to a new contract.

Leeds backed the German manager during their first season back in the Premier League, and he has praised for the club for that approach.

What did Daniel Farke say about Nottingham Forest?

Meanwhile at Nottingham Forest, owner Evangelos Marinakis sacked three managers in one season.

Pereira became the club's fourth boss of the 2025-26 campaign in February, and Farke has previously aimed a dig at the circus of managers at Nottingham Forest.

Farke, via the Yorkshire Evening Post, said: “It’s important at such a passionate club that we are on the same page. When that has been he the case, this club has had its most successful times.

“Changing the manager four or times is never helpful. I don’t comment on other clubs but if you are committed then you stick together. You can’t be too addicted to results.

"You can hit six times the crossbar and a deflected ball goes in and you lose 0-1 but you have not done too much wrong.

“We stick together and this is the relationship that we have. But each and every club has to decide, I am just fully focused on our own business because that is enough to do.”

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown has told Football Insider how Pereira could face the sack early this season as Nottingham Forest face losing their star players in the transfer market.

What is Leeds' record like against Nottingham Forest?

Farke has yet to come up against Pereira as Nottingham Forest boss as Sean Dyche was in the dugout the last time the two teams met at Elland Road.

Leeds cruised to a 3-1 victory, the same score line which Nottingham Forest beat the Whites in the reverse fixture, also under the management of Dyche.

Nottingham Forest have in fact won three of the past four meetings at the City Ground against Leeds.

It is set to be a highly competitive fixture, which could be an early marker of whether either side can challenge for a European spot.
