Leeds United midfielder Ethan Ampadu has shared a message with supporters after signing a new contract at Elland Road.

The club captain has signed a new four-year deal, which eases any concerns around his future this summer, as the Welshman only had one-year remaining on his contract.

The 25-year-old has established himself as one of the first names on Daniel Farke’s team sheet, and played a key role in Leeds maintaining their Premier League status this season.

Ampadu remaining at Leeds is a signal of intent from the Leeds ownership to back Farke, who has made his ambitions publicly clear to the board.

Farke wants to continue strengthening his squad this summer to progress up the Premier League table, and keeping Ampadu at the club was seen as a key part in that.

Ethan Ampadu takes to social media to share message

Following the club's announcement that he had signed a new contract, Ampadu took to Instagram to share his highlights reel from the 2025-26 season.

Ampadu captioned the post, “at least until the  world stops going round,” next to an eye and pen emoji, which highlighted the fact he had just signed a new contract with the club, and white, blue and yellow love heart emojis.

Defender Joe Rodon responded to the post using the white, blue and yellow love heart emojis, which indicate Leeds’ club colours.

Fellow teammates including Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Gabriel Gudmundsson and Sean Longstaff all liked the post.

Leeds step up interest in Southampton star

Leeds could take advantage of Southampton’s current situation to prize Leo Scienza away from St Mary’s this summer.

The Saints have had plenty of bad publicity lately regarding Spygate, and the club will not be competing in the Premier League next season after they were thrown out of the Championship play-offs.

Leo Scienza: Southampton star 'keen' to join Leeds as mass exodus gets underway

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Scienza is keen to join Leeds, and he wants to make the step up to the Premier League.

The 27-year-old would provide extra depth in attack for Farke, with the futures of Dan James and Willy Gnonto both uncertain, with the pair potentially being free to leave if replacements can be sourced.
