Leeds United have 'big' future ahead, but Tottenham warned over similar fate to Elland Road

Leeds United can push forward under 49ers Enterprises with their Premier League status looking all-but assured.

That is the view of former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking to Football Insider, who states that Leeds are in a position to kick on next season.

In their first season back in the top flight, Leeds have hit the 40-point mark, and are six points clear of the relegation zone with four games remaining.

Daniel Farke was backed last summer in the transfer market, and the German has been supported by the ownership throughout the season despite doubts over his ability to manage in the Premier League.

With plans to expand Elland Road, Leeds are in a strong position to increase revenue and to establish themselves as a Premier League club once again.

Tottenham warned as Leeds make 'big turnaround'

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs - believes relegation threatened Tottenham should be wary of how long it has taken Leeds to rebuild their club.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks a "strong Leeds" is a benefit to the whole of English football.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Leeds have got the new stadium development coming up. I think they are going to stay up.

"We’re all pretty clear they’re going to do that now. They’ve got a chance to kick on. We all know Leeds are a big, established club, but with all these things happening now, they’re set to go for the future.

"It’s taken a long time to get this right. We’ve seen that big turnaround. You start to think, if it happened to Leeds, is it going to take that long for Spurs should they go down? That’s the sort of comparisons you’ve got to think about.

"We’ve all seen Leeds take a long time, but now I think they’re poised to really kick on, and I hope they do. A strong Leeds is good for football.”

Leeds to have active summer transfer window

Wyness also told Football Insider that Farke will be backed by Leeds' ownership to strengthen his squad in the summer transfer window.

Whilst there could be a battle to keep star players, like defender Pascal Struijk, Leeds are focused on adding depth to a number of positions this summer.

Leeds have been indebted to the 11 league goals scored by Dominic Calvert-Lewin up-front, so a new striker to ease the workload on the 29-year-old could be on their radar.

At the other end of the pitch, 35-year-old Karl Darlow has started Leeds' last 13 Premier League fixtures in goal, meaning a younger shot stopper, like target James Trafford, could be smart business for the future.
