Leeds United forward Lukas Nmecha has sent a message to supporters following his first season at the club.

Nmecha moved to Elland Road last summer on a free transfer from Wolfsburg as part of Daniel Farke’s rebuild to make his Leeds squad ready for the Premier League.

The 27-year-old netted on his Premier League debut from the penalty spot against Everton, and went on to contribute five more goals throughout the season, as Leeds maintained their top flight status.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s fine form up-front meant that Nmecha only started 10 Premier League games, and it is likely that the German will face more competition for places next season.

Leeds are looking to sign a new forward and strengthen their squad further, with Farke having already told the board of his ambitions to move the club to the next level.

Lukas Nmecha ‘grateful’ for Leeds debut season

Taking to Instagram over a week after the Premier League season finished for Leeds with a 3-0 defeat at West Ham, Nmecha posted a video of his highlights from the campaign.

In a message to the club's fanbase, Nmecha said: “After two horror years with injuries, I’ve managed to get through a season again, progressively getting stronger every game.

“I’m truly grateful, and I know that there is much more to come.”

Teammate Gabriel Gudmundsson replied “class” with a clapping hands emoji, whilst Celtic loanee Junior Adamu called Nmecha a “baller.”

Leeds line up move for £17m summer target

Farke is looking to add a goalkeeper to his ranks this summer as 35-year-old Karl Darlow’s contract is set to expire at the end of the month.

With Illan Meslier looking certain to leave Leeds, that would leave Farke with only Lucas Perri as an experienced shot stopper at his disposal, and the Brazilian has not impressed supporters during his time at the club.

Leeds add Lukas Hornicek to shortlist as Daniel Farke certain over transfer

Sources have told Football Insider that Leeds are keeping tabs on Braga goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek, and may make a move for the 23-year-old this summer.

Hornicek kept 12 clean sheets in Portugal’s top division this season, and would cost Leeds around £17million.
