Leeds United stance on Zian Flemming transfer clear for now amid speculation
Leeds United have been tipped to raid Burnley for Zian Flemming in the upcoming transfer window.
The Dutch striker scored 11 goals in 29 Premier League appearances in the 2025-26 campaign as the Clarets suffered relegation after finishing 19th in the table.
It wouldn't be surprising to see the 27-year-old return to the English top flight sooner rather than later after proving his goalscoring ability at Turf Moor.
Leeds have been linked with Flemming in recent weeks, but for now, the Elland Road hierarchy doesn't seem to have the attacker on their radar.
Daniel Farke could undoubtedly do with reinforcements in the number nine position ahead of next season, but the Burnley star may not be an option for now.
Joel Piroe is expected to leave the West Yorkshire outfit after falling down the pecking order, leaving the door open for a striker's signing in LS11.
Leeds United update emerges on Zian Flemming transfer
Adam Pope has revealed that the Leeds hierarchy haven't mentioned Flemming as a possible transfer target so far.
While the BBC Radio Leeds journalist believes the Dutch striker's profile aligns with the type of player the Whites could target, it remains to be seen whether he will become a concrete target.
Football Insider transfer correspondent Pete O'Rourke shared in May that Leeds were interested in Flemming and were hoping to beat their Premier League rivals to his signing.
The centre-forward joined Burnley on a loan deal, which included an obligation to buy for £7million, in the summer of 2024, and his contract at Turf Moor runs for three more years.
Writing in BBC Sport on 11 June, Pope said: "I was chatting to a group of Leeds United supporters and this subject came up about needing a player somewhere between the two current centre-forwards.
"Zian Flemming, who is under contract at Burnley, was mentioned by one fan, who reminded everyone that he scored 11 Premier League goals in a struggling side. Flemming has not been mentioned by anyone at the club, by the way, but maybe the profile is more in keeping."
Daniel Farke has obvious priority at Elland Road
Extending Karl Darlow's contract should be on top of Farke's agenda after the Wales international played a crucial role in securing Premier League safety this season.
Illan Meslier will depart Leeds as a free agent, while question marks have been raised over Lucas Perri's ability to be the number one at Elland Road.
A new quality number one would certainly raise the West Yorkshire outfit's standards, but for now, they should focus on tying down Darlow for next season.
