Leeds United's three-man signing plan revealed by expert
Daniel Farke is looking to improve his Leeds United squad in at least three key areas after demanding the board back him financially.
The 49-year-old has been open about his desire for the club to show ambition after a strong first season back in the Premier League under his guidance.
He is not content just remaining in the division, however, as the boss is now eyeing improved results and expects to be backed to achieve those.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Farke wants to sign a new goalkeeper, midfielder and a top-class striker when the window opens.
The boss is believed to have laid out his expectations amid suggestions he could walk away from his position if he is not backed by the board this summer.
What do Leeds United's transfer plans look like?
Football Insider revealed in March that Leeds will sign players to back Farke as they target options who will fit into the 3-5-2 formation which brought such success.
The Elland Road club could have as much as £100million to spend this summer, although chairman Paraag Marathe has played down their spending power.
After what proved to be a successful season at Elland Road, the boss has identified key areas to improve his squad, and is expecting the finances to do so.
"There are some key positions Leeds need to strengthen," Brown told Football Insider.
"It was a strong season for them, thanks largely to the work Farke has done, but he will be aware that if they want to improve, the squad has to be better.
"Dominic Calvert-Lewin had a very impressive season, he did much better than many people expected, including myself.
"But Leeds relied on him quite a lot to score their goals, so they will need another top-class striker who will come in and get them over the line in t
"They've had real problems in goal, chopping and changing the goalkeeper, it doesn't seem like they're especially happy with either of their options there.
"Then you look at other areas of the team, they could certainly strengthen in midfield, and even at the back Joe Rodon has been great, but they can upgrade there.
"It's going to have to be a gradual process for Leeds, you can't change your whole team in one summer, but over the next few windows there are improvements to be made.
"The manager is expecting to be backed by the board to sign top-quality players this summer, though, and they may have to do that."
Could Daniel Farke walk away from Leeds?
Despite suggestions Leeds could be set to enjoy a strong window, there are concerns about the manager's recent words and the outcome if they do not spend big.
Brown warned Football Insider on 1 June that Farke could walk away from Leeds United if he is not given the backing he has publicly called for.
Farke is not content simply surviving in the Premier League, and if he feels the board are happy to rest on their laurels, he has no intention of remaining at Elland Road.
The boss is believed to be in a strong position to make these demands, as Leeds are keen to back him after their successful return to the top flight.
However, the chairman explained that it will take "three long-fought seasons" before the club can operate like their established Premier League counterparts.
