Sebastiaan Bornauw may have just been handed a lifeline at Leeds United, but it'll come as a blow to Daniel Farke.
Premier League survival looks set to stay at Elland Road, having moved six points clear of the relegation zone with four games left to play, but there is plenty of time left for twists and turns.
The Whites are the latest to be hit by a twist in the Premier League, with Farke confirming that Gabriel Gudmundsson is certain to miss the upcoming game against Burnley on Friday, 1 May.
He could also be unavailable for Leeds' trip to Tottenham on Monday, 11 May, with the manager needing to find a solution to the left-back spot that the Sweden international has deputised in so well this term.

The Whites could also be without Jaka Bijol, which would certainly shake things up when facing already-relegated Burnley, and Bornauw should take this as an opportunity to save his career.
While the obvious move would have been to reinstate Joe Rodon to the back-three, moving James Justin to left-back, Farke will need both of them at centre-back if Bijol is unavailable.
That is only if the manager doesn't put his faith in Bornauw, who has only started two of Leeds' last 11 games across all competitions, both coming in the FA Cup.

Against Norwich City, he even featured at right-back, so that could be another simple solution. However, the likeliest move would be to put him in the centre of defence, with Justin at full-back.

Many expected a chance at revival for Bornauw after Rodon picked up an injury at Leeds, but it just hasn't worked out for the 27-year-old, who only arrived at Elland Road last summer.
Now, it is becoming increasingly likely that he departs West Yorkshire ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, having very few chances to actually prove himself to the manager.
Leeds may have to stay away from the Bundesliga for a while, given that Max Wober has already moved away again, and Brenden Aaronson has never really won over a majority of supporters.
Anton Stach and Lukas Nmecha would be direct arguments against that, but Leeds have wasted far too much money on failed transfers for anyone's liking.
