Jordan James is on Leeds United's radar ahead of the summer transfer window after his stellar individual campaign on loan at Leicester from Rennes.

James was recently crowned the Championship's Young Player of the Season following an impressive campaign at the King Power Stadium.

He has been unable to keep Leicester in the second tier, however, and so is set to return to Rennes this summer with another move back to England in the offing.

Leeds are one of the clubs eyeing a move for the 21-year-old, as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast.

Daniel Farke will be accelerating Leeds' summer transfer plans in the coming weeks as they edge towards Premier League safety.

Jordan James is attracting Premier League interest after Leicester spell

James has been playing through the pain barrier in a bid to help save Leicester from relegation, and may have played his last game for the club now that they have been confirmed in League One for next term.

His individual form has been made to look even more impressive by their poor performances as a team, with numerous Premier League and top Championship sides taking notice ahead of the summer.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "I think there'll be a lot of clubs looking at Jordan James.

"You'll have Premier League clubs, you'll have top Championship clubs looking at him as well. He's been one of the shining lights for Leicester in a real dismal season for them

"He's still only 21 as well, James, and is a full Wales international. He's got huge potential. There will be clubs ready to try and sign him from Rennes."

Leeds eyeing Matt Targett as Championship scouting accelerates

Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Leeds are interested in Targett as he impresses while on loan at Middlesbrough from Newcastle.

He is set to leave Newcastle at the end of his contract this summer and wants to return to top flight football, with Everton also eyeing a move.

Middlesbrough remain keen to keep hold of the 30-year-old beyond this summer, but will need to win promotion from the Championship to stand any chance of agreeing a permanent deal.
