Sources: Leeds to sell Lukas Nmecha after new striker deal agreed
Leeds United will only sell striker Lukas Nmecha if they can secure a replacement for him in January, sources have told Football Insider.
The 27-year-old has interest from several Bundesliga clubs, including FC Koln, but the Whites are determined to ensure they don't leave themselves short at the top of the pitch.
Nmecha is their only backup to Dominic Calvert-Lewin as an out-and-out striker, but they are keen to rectify that situation in January.
Sources say that Daniel Farke and Co. are prepared to let Nmecha out the door, provided they can bring in a new face to provide cover at the top of the pitch.
The former Wolfsburg man is out of contract at Elland Road next summer, and the club have been unable to agree an extension to that deal so far.
The prospect of signing a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club will also come onto the table for the frontman in January, given that he will enter the final six months of his deal.
Leeds have eyes on 20-goal Ligue 1 man
Leeds have had a new striker towards the top of their list of transfer priorities throughout the last few windows, but the right deal has eluded them so far.
They are set to make attempts to bolster their attack once again this winter, as the need for other options at the top of the pitch rumbles on.
Football Insider revealed earlier in October that the Whites are one of several Premier League clubs to have set their sights on Rennes frontman Esteban Lepaul after an impressive season last term.
The 26-year-old netted 20 goals in Ligue 1 last term, and already has seven strikes from as many league games so far in 2026-27.
Lepaul's stock has risen dramatically in recent months, and he recently earned his first caps for France at senior level.
He would be an exciting addition for Leeds if they can get a deal done, but that may be easier said than done in the middle of the season.
49ers weigh up 'very frightening' move
Former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness believes that suggestions of Leeds moving to an AI-driven dynamic ticket pricing scheme in future are "very frightening."
Chairman Paraag Marathe recently admitted that he and the club hierarchy are considering implementing the scheme at Elland Road in future seasons.
It could potentially see regular match-going fans rewarded for their loyalty with cheaper ticket prices, while more casual fans may have to pay increased fees.
However, Wyness feels that they must be very careful with schemes like that, as it could easily drive a wedge through the fanbase and cause a "PR disaster."
