Wolves present Leeds with perfect chance to sign Andre thanks to Rob Edwards news
Leeds United could be back in with a chance of signing Wolves star Andre after the Championship club surprisingly sacked Rob Edwards.
Edwards lost his job at Wolves on Wednesday after reports emerged of the club lining up Gil Vicente boss Cesar Peixoto as his successor.
The 43-year-old is believed to have been blindsided by news of his departure after being forced to ring his higher-ups for clarity on the situation.
According to talkSPORT's Alex Crook, Several Wolves players including are angry at the sacking of Edwards after many believed he was set to take them into next season.
Andre will surely be one of those Old Gold stars fuming at the news, considering how close he was with his now ex-boss after he played a key role in getting him to sign a new contract last month.
The Brazilian midfielder impressed last term despite their relegation from the Premier League, with Leeds believed to be keen on signing him this summer.
Their chances looked to be quashed after he penned fresh terms, but they could now reignite previous interest considering how he could be feeling about the situation.
Rob Edwards was key to getting Andre to commit to Wolves
Andre praised Edwards in his first English interview back in April, as he called the then-Wolves boss a "top gaffer and top person" and insisted that he was "very happy" to be working with him.
While Edwards failed to keep his side in the top flight, it was clear to see throughout the second half of the season that he had restored unity and desire to the squad that was lacking under Vitor Pereira.
It was widely assumed that he had been hired with the Championship in mind, given his strong second tier CV, and Andre could not speak highly enough of Edwards after signing his new deal last month.
Speaking to in-house media, he said: "Well, about Rob – ‘Gaffer’ – he gives me a lot of confidence, so I am very grateful to him for everything he has done for me since he arrived, and I really hope to help on the pitch. I really want to help him. He’s a sensational guy who deserves to take the club back to the Premier League.
"Rob said he has complete confidence in me and he promised me that he was going to build a very competitive team this season, that the club is only thinking about returning to the Premier League this season. I am very happy for all the trust that he has given me and for all the conversations."
Trust is clearly important to the Brazilian star, so he will surely feel like Wolves have betrayed him in some way by sacking the man he thought he was going to feature under as they aim for promotion next season.
How can Leeds take advantage?
Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Leeds are interested in Santiago Bueno and Ladislab Krejci, while Andre was on their radar before he signed a new deal.
Brazilian outlet RTI Esporte claimed in April that the Whites were lining up a £35million move for his services to bolster Daniel Farke's midfield ranks.
It certainly would not come as a surprise to see him push for a move away from Molineux in the coming months, despite recently signing a new contract.
Leeds should be at the front of the chase for his signature once again if he does indicate that he wants to depart, with Wolves now potentially facing a player-led crisis after the shock sacking of Edwards.
