Frank McAvennie has suggested that Neil Lennon will not want Ryan Fraser at Celtic given the manner in which the winger left Bournemouth.
The former Hoops and West Ham striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, claimed the 26-year-old had “left Eddie Howe in the mire” by not staying until the end of the season.
Fraser became a free agent yesterday after he turned down a short-term contract deal at Bournemouth to enable him to complete the remaining fixtures of the 2019/20 campaign.
Football Insider revealed that the the versatile wide-man rejected a new deal as he feared injury would scupper a blockbuster move this summer.
Former England number one Paul Robinson is adamant that the Scotland international has already chosen his next club with Spurs, Everton and Celtic interested in his services.
However, McAvennie implied that club would not be Celtic as Fraser is driven by financial motives.
“I understand what Ryan is doing by not saying anything but he has let his teammates at Bournemouth down,” he told Football Insider.
“Managers like Lenny will not like that because he has left Eddie Howe in the mire, definitely.
“I understand he is looking after his family but listen, it is football, you can get injured.
“It is all about money and he must have made lots of money by now. He must be insured as well.
“There are a lot of players in England who signed until the end of the season and he should have signed that extra month so he could have played. I do not get it.”
