Leon King could join fellow Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen on loan if he leaves Rangers this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers defender Alan Hutton said King was "unlucky" to pick up an injury in pre-season.

The 19-year-old's current contract runs until 2026 after signing an extension in December but he has fallen down the pecking order Ibrox.

The defender picked up an injury earlier this summer which forced Michael Beale to sign another centre-back, bringing Leon Balogun back to the squad.

When asked where would be a good move for King, Hutton told Football Insider: "I think he has got options.

"There is definitely a player in there that can develop and grow and become a Rangers regular starter in the future. He has to go out and get that toughness that you need.

"Whether that be somewhere in Scotland but it would have to be of a decent level, the likes of Aberdeen if they were looking for somebody. It has to be somewhere he is going to get tested every week.

"There is also England, the Championship, somewhere that is going to be difficult where he is going to mature quickly.

Rangers

"It is probably a shame that he picked up that injury in pre-season because Balogun came in off the back of that which put him down the pecking order.

"He needs to go somewhere he is going to play regularly and then go from there but there is definitely a Rangers player in there."
