Leon Osman has labelled Everton’s latest signing Morgan Schneiderlin as a “terrific player”.
The 27-year-old France international made the switch to Goodison Park from Manchester United on Thursday for a huge £20million fee.
He has previously worked with Toffees boss Ronald Koeman at Southampton and former midfielder Osman believes that will play a big part in helping Schneiderlin into a quick transition at the club.
“Well that’s the most important thing,” said Osman on Sunday afternoon’s Match of the Day 2 Extra show.
“The manager knows him well, he knows exactly what he’s capable of and he knows exactly what to do to get the best out of him.
“Morgan Scheiderlin knows what the manager wants from his players, so it should be a quick introduction, he’s a terrific player and a French international and I think he’ll fit in really well here.”
Schneiderlin started from the bench in Sunday afternoon’s clash with Manchester City.
Koeman opted for a midfield of youth and experience in Tom Davies and Gareth Barry.
However, the former Southampton man is expected to become a regular fixture in the centre of the park for Everton once he settles in.
Schneiderlin joins Everton as a 15-time capped France international, while also boasting large experience of the English top flight having featured 127 times.
He was nominated the Southampton fans’ player of the season for the 2012-13 campaign and the Toffees support will now be hoping for similar success from their new player.
Koeman has already added young talent Ademola Lookman to his side as well this window and he will now be looking for further targets to help lift his side from seventh.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are looking to sell this defensive duo in January.
