After a raft of recent contract extensions, Daniel Levy is closing in on a new deal for manager Mauricio Pochettino, according to a report.
Football.London claim that Spurs are confident that the manager will be putting pen to paper imminently, with an announcement expected in the “coming days”.
The one hurdle is that Pochettino needs to finalise deals for his coaching staff first, but these are said to be at an “advanced stage”.
If the report is true and Levy gets the Argentine’s signature, it would undoubtedly be the biggest deal that he’ll pull off this summer.
Pochettino put the cat among the pigeons when he was uncharacteristically outspoken after the final game of the season.
He hinted that his future at the club might not be as secure as people thought, and that Levy would have to spend to keep him.
One thing’s for sure… Levy won’t want to lose him. He’s the architect of everything that’s good about Tottenham at the moment.
And Tottenham fans must have thought they were about to lose him.
Pochettino wanted assurances that Levy would spend money and if he signs then it would appear that he’s been given those.
There will be some disappointments this summer. Toby Alderweireld looks almost certain to leave the club.
But, with a contract extension for Pochettino, that’s a disappointment that fans will get over.
A couple more marquee signings and Spurs fans could be looking forward to a real tilt at the title next season, with Pochettino in charge.
And that’s exciting news.
In other Tottenham news, the club are plotting a major transfer change that the fans will be delighted with
