Tottenham have tabled a stunning £25million bid for Leicester forward Demarai Gray, according to a reliable journalist.
Sky Sports Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed on his personal website that Spurs have made the massive offer with just over 24 hours of the window remaining.
Di Marzio reports that Leicester have slapped a £30million valuation on the 21-year-old, who has struggled to nail down a first team spot at the Premier League club.
It is said that there could be more developments for the in-demand attacker before Thursday night’s deadline.
Gray made 43 appearances across all competitions last term for Leicester, scoring three goals and supplying six assists in the process, although most of his game time came off the bench.
Tottenham are yet to strengthen their attacking options this summer with their only signings back-up goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga and defender Davinson Sanchez.
Football Insider Verdict
It’s Levy time, the part of the window when the Spurs chairman has a long history of making his mark with eyecatching last-ditch signings. Could Gray be that player? A future England international, he was the outstanding player for the Under-21s this summer, but has found game time at Leicester harder to come by than he had hoped. Under the shrewd guidance of Mauricio Pochettino and playing alongside the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli, he could fast-track his development and provide Tottenham with a much-needed speed machine.
