'Like a new signing' - Exclusive: Bent drools over Tottenham ace who is 'Perfect' for Mourinho

Darren Bent gushed about Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko and revealed he thought Jose Mourinho will love working with the 30-year-old.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former Spurs striker shared that he thought due to Sissoko always putting in 100% for his side and due to his ability to play multiple positions, then he’ll be the perfect option for Mourinho to count on.

Sissoko didn’t start Mourinho’s first game in charge of Spurs against West Ham on Saturday but the Portuguese manager did opt to bring him on to replace Lucas Moura in the 82nd minute.

Bent suggested that Sissoko shouldn’t be worried about his future under Mourinho, despite not starting the 3-2 win over the Hammers, as his new manager will view the midfielder as a luxury player to have.

When asked if Sissoko is the type of player Mourinho will love working with, Bent told Football Insider: “Yeah, Mourinho will love him.

“Mourinho may not take into account his quality, he does have some qualities, his engine, the fact he is a big powerful presence, but yeah he’ll be perfect for Mourinho as Mourinho knows that it must be a luxury to have that type of player, if you have an injury, right-back, midfield, wherever you need Sissoko to play, he’ll play there to the best of his ability.

“He’ll put 100% in, and do a job adequately.

“And I think until Mourinho gets the budget and can bring in the player he wants, Sissoko will be right at the forefront of what he needs, and when you have dependable members of the squad, who are like that, that’s like a new signing itself.”

Sissoko regularly featured for Spurs ahead of Mourinho’s arrival as he made 16 appearances across all competitions.

The experienced midfielder has been with Spurs since 2016 after joining from Newcastle United and is contracted to stay with the club until 2023.
