Lingard 'has to' snub Everton and Newcastle to complete West Ham move after source's update today - pundit
Jesse Lingard has to complete a move to West Ham if he wants to revive his faltering career, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker admitted he was “so surprised” Lingard did not return to West Ham on a permanent deal over the summer.
Instead, he opted to stay at Man United and fight for his place in the starting XI with his contract up at the end of the season.
A source with knowledge of Lingard’s situation has told Football Insider today that talks over a new contract have collapsed and he is set to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season.
United will listen to offers for permanent or loan deals in January, with Everton, West Ham and Newcastle United among the clubs closely monitoring his situation.
West Ham posted a video on their Instagram account of one of Lingard’s goals for the club while on loan last season.

He reposted the video to his story while Declan Rice commented on the post.
Asked whether he could complete a January move to the London Stadium, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “It has to happen.
“I was so surprised that he didn’t go in the summer. It didn’t make sense to stay at Manchester United. He was never going to play, he was never going to get game time with Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba, Fred and Scott McTominay all favourites ahead of him.
“He needs to play football. With the World Cup coming up, he really needs to play football.
“It just makes sense, it’s a club that he likes and where he enjoyed his football. It just makes sense for both parties.”
Lingard, 28, scored nine times and provided five assists in 16 games for West Ham on loan last season.
He moved to east London in January and helped the club secure a top-six finish.
