Andre Wisdom wants to join Celtic from Liverpool before next Wednesday's transfer window cut-off, according to a report.

The Sun claim the defender, 23, is keen for his former manager Brendan Rodgers to give him a career lifeline after he dropping down the pecking order at Anfield.

Celtic have money to spend in the final days of the window after qualifying for the Champions League group stages, earning them a bounty of up to £30million.

Rodgers has been assessing the possibility of a reunion with the Anfield academy graduate all summer.

The Daily Mail reported in June that an agreement between Celtic and Liverpool was close to being finalised at a cost of £3million for the versatile Wisdom, who can play at centre-back and both full-back positions.

Wisdom, 23, is contracted to Liverpool until 2019 but is a fringe player and has had loan spells at Norwich, West Brom and Derby.

The former England Under-21 international spent last season on loan at Carrow Road, making 14 appearances in all competitions.

The Leeds-born defender has played 22 matches for Liverpool and is rated by Rodgers, who is reportedly confident that the defender can be key to a Scottish Premiership title bid.
