Sources: Liverpool agree £82m deal after finalising Cody Gakpo terms
Liverpool have agreed a Cody Gakpo deal worth £82million in transfer fee and wages, sources have told Football Insider.
PSV Eindhoven announced on Monday night that they have accepted a bid from the Merseysiders for the Dutch forward, 23, and he has been granted permission to head to England to complete the move.
Negotiations between PSV and Liverpool have progressed swiftly in recent days and a package has been agreed worth an initial £37million, rising to a potential £44m with add-ons.
In addition to the guaranteed £37m fee to be paid out, Liverpool have also agreed a six-year contract with Gakpo worth around £120,000-a-week.
It means the total cost of the deal including fee and wages is around £82m.
A medical has been pencilled in to take place on Merseyside over the next 48 hours with Gakpo becoming a Liverpool player on 1 January.

In securing a deal, Jurgen Klopp is inflicting a major setback to Man United and their manager Erik ten Hag, who had made Gakpo a prime target and held extensive talks over a deal.
Liverpool’s late hijack has echoes of their swoop for Luis Diaz in January of this year, when the player was close to agreeing terms with Tottenham before FSG gave the green light to a last-gasp deal.
The Merseysiders have acted after Diaz suffered a setback in his recovery from a knee injury that has sidelined him since October, while Diogo Jota is also set to be out for a few more months.
Gakpo has been earmarked to play on the left of Klopp’s three-man attack, reinforcing the options alongside Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez and – when fit-again – Roberto Firmino.
He is versatile enough to play across the front line and offers another top-class attacking option.
