Sources: Liverpool have made approach to sign Ajax star Antony
Liverpool have enquired about signing Ajax sensation Antony, sources have told Football Insider.
The Merseysiders have made contact with the Dutch giants this summer about a potential deal for the Brazil international winger.
Ajax value Antony, 22, at the £59million mark on the back of his starring role in consecutive Eredivisie triumphs under former manager Erik ten Hag.
Liverpool are not expected to pay that for the Brazilian even though he features prominently on their list of attacking targets.
Antony has been strongly linked with Man United but they are also reluctant to meet his asking price.
Liverpool have already paid a club-record fee for one attacker this summer after signing Darwin Nunez from Benfica to replace Sadio Mane.

Mohamed Salah has also agreed a new three-year contract that makes him the highest paid player in the club’s history, while playmaker Fabio Carvalho joined from Fulham.
But three senior attackers have departed Anfield, with Divock Origi (AC Milan) and Takumi Minamino (Monaco) joining Mane in heading through the exit door.
Antony plays predominantly on the right wing, the favoured position of Salah.
The Brazlian joined Ajax from Sao Paolo in the summer of 2020 for around £14m and has made 78 appearances, which have yielded 22 goals and 20 assists.
Antony is one of a number of Ajax players who United have been tipped to land this summer.
Ten Hag has already lured one man from his old team after completing a deal last weekend for Argentine defender Lisandro Martinez.
