Liverpool could seal 'top class' Tielemans signing after Sky update - Robinson
Paul Robinson has claimed Youri Tielemans “fits the bill” for Liverpool after the Leicester City midfielder opened the door on a move.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said the Reds need to sign a centre-midfielder next year after Georginio Wijnaldum left for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.
Speaking to Sky Sports (14th September), Tielemans, 24, revealed he is “keeping his options open” as he negotiates the terms of a new contract at the King Power Stadium.
He has two years on his current contract with the Foxes.
Belgian outlet Het Nieuwsblad reported in the early summer (May 26th) that Jurgen Klopp had placed Tielemans on a shortlist of potential replacements for Wijnaldum.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if a move could materialise in 2022, Robinson said: “It’s a position that Liverpool are light in.

“They need reinforcements in that area. They really miss Wijnaldum.
“When you look at the amount of games last year, he was ever-present and they haven’t replaced him. He was a seven or eight out of 10 every week.
“It is an area they could do with an extra body and Tielemans would absolutely fit that bill. He’s a top-class player.
“It will be interesting to see what Liverpool do because they did not spend heavily in the summer. It’s going to be an interesting January window for Liverpool.”
Tielemans told Sky Sports: “There’s no update really. I’m open to everything.
“There are talks going on – I’m not saying I’m going to sign, I’m not saying I’m not going to sign. We will see.”
