Liverpool could sign sensation Carvalho after what Phillips has 'heard'

Liverpool could sign “a very exciting talent” in Fulham’s Fabio Carvalho after what Kevin Phillips has “heard”.

However, the 2000 European Golden Shoe winner, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, said a deal in January would likely only be on a buy-to-loan basis.

According to The Athletic (November 3rd), Carvalho, 19, has rejected a new contract offer at Craven Cottage.

It’s said the attacking midfielder will not make a decision on his future until he has changed agents in January.

Carvalho’s current contract is set to expire at the end of June.

According to Eurosport‘s Dean Jones (November 5th), Liverpool, Chelsea and Real Madrid are all considering a move for the teenager.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of Carvalho’s future, Phillips said: “I’ve heard a lot about this kid.

“He looks like a very exciting talent.

“Fulham would not let him go in January, 100 per cent. They will be fully focused on gaining promotion this season.

“The only way I could see them letting Carvalho go in January is if he was loaned straight back until the end of the season.

“When a young player does really well, he gets linked with big clubs. You just hope his head doesn’t get turned and his form dips. It is always tough.

“From Liverpool’s point of view, they can scout these players and make a move when they like. It is hard for these players to turn down a club of Liverpool’s stature.”
