Liverpool are expecting goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher to ask to leave the club this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The 24-year-old, who is under contract at Anfield until June 2026, is believed to want regular first-team football.

Alisson's excellence in the number-one role at Liverpool means that Kelleher can't see a regular starting spot opening up at the club in the near future.

The Republic of Ireland international is keeping his options open for a Premier League or European move in the summer window.

It is believed that he feels he is ready to become the first-choice shot-stopper at his next club.

Kelleher has made just three appearances across both domestic cups this season as Liverpool bowed out early in their attempts to defend the FA Cup and League Cup.

He was the penalty hero in the League Cup final last season, stepping up to score the decisive spot-kick in their shootout win over Chelsea after making several impressive saves in regulation time.

The 24-year-old's only Premier League appearances have come when first-choice goalkeeper Allison is unavailable.

Kelleher is also fighting for the number one jersey at international level, with Southampton shot-stopper Gavin Bazunu sharing the goalkeeping responsibilities for Stephen Kenny's side.

Adrian is the third choice at Liverpool and his only appearance for the club this season came in their Community Shield win over Man City.

The Spaniard's contract is set to expire in June.

Liverpool

Liverpool's fight for Champions League qualification continues with a clash against reigning league champions Man City on Saturday (1 April).

Jurgen Klopp's side must make up a seven-point deficit to fourth-place Spurs - but have played two fewer games than the Lilywhites.
