Liverpool fans call for 23-year-old star to sign deal after win v West Brom

By Matt Bullin

Liverpool fans have called for their club to wrap up Emre Can’s contract negotiations after the Reds’ 1-0 win against West Brom on Sunday.

The 23-year-old put in another brilliant performance in Liverpool’s engine room as they escaped The Hawthorns with all three points.

Roberto Firmino’s header was the difference between the sides in an attritional game, although Simon Mignolet did make a huge save to deny Matty Phillips late on.

The win lifts Liverpool into third, two points ahead of top four rivals Man City, who now occupy fourth.

Can has been somewhat of a revelation in midfield since Jordan Henderson’s injury and has now played 90 minutes in Liverpool’s last eight league games.

Despite his struggle for form earlier in the season, he has put in a string of quality performances which have been key to the Reds’ seven match unbeaten run.

The 23-year-old has now played 35 league and cup games for Klopp’s side and has scored four goals and laid on three.

However, the eight-time German international has failed to renew his contract at Liverpool as his club continue to refuse to pay his £70,000 per week demands.

But with his current deal running out in 2018 Liverpool fans have called for the club to end the dispute and sign him up.
