Liverpool fans react on Twitter as Danny Ings is ruled out for the season

Liverpool fans have delivered heartfelt messages on Twitter after hearing Danny Ings is set to be ruled out for the entire season.

The 24-year-old is set to undergo an operation to repair cartilage in his right knee, which will see him miss the entirety of Liverpool’s campaign under Jurgen Klopp.

Ings, who moved to the Merseyside giants last summer, has been sidelined for more than a year after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament during Klopp’s first training session as Liverpool boss.

However, the former Burnley forward looked to have put his injury demons behind him after making a late appearance from the substitutes’ bench during Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Tottenham in the EFL Cup.

But Liverpool’s number 28 injured his right knee during an innocuous challenge in the fourth round of the cup, different to the injury suffered beforehand on his left knee.

Ings has made just 11 league and cup appearances for the Reds since his move in the summer of 2015.
