Liverpool fans react on Twitter to Gomez display v Plymouth
By Emma Sanders
Liverpool fans reacted with excitement on Twitter after Joe Gomez produced a fantastic display against Plymouth during the 0-0 draw on his return from injury.
The defender was excellent, playing at centre-back in the FA Cup third round cup tie against Plymouth despite being absent from the squad for 15 months.
Gomez suffered a serious ACL injury just weeks after joining Liverpool in 2015 and further set-backs have delayed his return but he featured in the starting XI against Plymouth.
The 19-year-old was rarely tested but when needed, Gomez looked assured and comfortable in possession and it looked as if no time had passed since his last appearance.
Fans grew to fall in love with Gomez very quickly as the teenager produced a number of terrific displays in the left-back role under Brendan Rodgers.

He played at centre-back alongside Lucas against Plymouth as Jurgen Klopp named the youngest Liverpool side ever from the starting XI.
Some fans are claiming the teenager is already one of the club’s best defenders despite Gomez playing just seven games since joining from Charlton.
Gomez has featured regularly for the Under-23s since returning from injury and he is expected to feature again for the first team when his fitness levels have improved and he has a number of matches under his belt.
In other Liverpool news, this is why Cameron Brannagan must go out on loan.
