Mamadou Sakho has been sent home from the squad’s pre-season tour in the US – and their supporters on Twitter were not impressed.
The general mood was one of sadness mixed with anger for the French defender.
The Liverpool Echo have reported that there were concerns over the former Paris Saint-Germain defender’s attitude at the Reds’ California training base.
The defender, who hasn’t played since April 20, missed out on Liverpool’s Europa League final against Sevilla, as well as France’s Euro 2016 campaign, after the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) alleged that he had consumed a prohibited ‘fat burner’. Sakho’s representatives have argued the substance shouldn’t be prohibited and his initial ban wasn’t extended.
The France international’s first-team position is also currently under threat after Klopp has confirmed the centre-back signings of Schalke’s Joel Matip and Estonia captain Ragnar Klavan.
Many Liverpool fans took to Twitter on Tuesday morning to express their disappointment regarding Sakho.
Sakho being sent home is a little alarming considering Lucas who is injured is staying on tour.. hopefully its nothing serious! #LFC

You think sakho would want to keep bad press away from him after all that has happened. Now he is sent home by Klopp for bad attitude #lfc

doubt injury is the concern. Lucas and Gomez are still there. If Sakho's been disruptive then too bad for him.

Alongside the signings of Matip and Klavan, Klopp still has senior defender Dejan Lovren, as well as Tiago Ilori, Joe Gomez and Andre Wisdom, who can cover the centre-back positions if Sakho’s future at the Reds is in doubt.
In other Liverpool team news, Jordan Henderson feels the Reds can learn from their cup failures last season.
