Joe Gomez has been ruled out of Liverpool's Champions League double header against Manchester City - and fans have taken to Twitter to express their frustration and anger.

The Sun claim that the right-sided defender is set to be sidelined for four weeks with the ankle injury he suffered while on England duty in their win over Holland last Friday night.

It is said that Gomez, 20, is ruled out of both legs of the quarter-final against City, and is sweating on being available for the semi-finals if Liverpool make it to the next round.

The right-back has been a key player for Liverpool this season, making 29 appearances in all competitions, including six in the Champions League.

He has shared right-back duties with fellow young gun Trent Alexander-Arnold this season after overcoming the injuries that had halted his progress during his early Anfield years.

Liverpool fans are disappointed that Jurgen Klopp will not be able to call upon Gomez, with one claiming that City left winger Leroy Sane can cause havoc against Trent Alexander-Arnold in the two-legged showdown on 4 and 10 April.
