'Buzzing for him', 'Start him against Everton' - Liverpool fans send big message to Klopp
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp made the decision to put never-seen defender Conor Masterson on the substitutes bench for the Champions League quarter-final tie against Manchester City on Wednesday night.
And supporters have not only endorsed their boss’ decision to select the 19-year-old for the match, they want to see him in action at the weekend when the Reds face Everton in Saturday’s Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.
Klopp’s side are in the midst of an injury crisis at the heart of their defence, with injuries to Joe Gomez and Joel Matip, they are lacking in experience and strength in depth.
The result of which was the Masterson’s promotion from youth team duty to potential first-team starter.
They will know they cannot risk losing either Virgil van Dijk or Dejan Lovren ahead of the clash with City next week because despite a 3-0 advantage, the Sky Blues have the quality to threaten the Reds.
But supporters have faith in their manager and trust him unquestionably to make the right decision and hope that with the second-leg to play next leg in the Champions League, he will select the youngster against the Blues and not risk any further injuries to key players ahead of such a big game.

This could be the making of him. Some huge games left and he’s sure to get a game now with all the injuries. Hopefully he takes his chance. Too many youngsters don’t get one these days

Hmm. Reckon Masterson might get a game on Saturday or too big an occasion? I mean he's 19, old enough to be playing imo.

I'd love go give Masterson and Woodburn 90 mins against them. Rest our boys. Massive game Tuesday and Bournemouth the following week will be tougher

I'd seriously think about playing as many kids as possible against the Ev this weekend. Ride the momentum from this last week and give them a taste of the rivalry. Obviously don't have a team of teenagers, but call up some kids like Brewster, play solanke and that masterson lad
