Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to give their support to Lucas after it was revealed he could remain at the club in January despite strong reported interest from Inter Milan.
The 29-year-old has been linked with a move to the Italian giants and a number of reports suggested he had already completed a medical with Inter Milan.
However, the Liverpool Echo claim the club are holding out for a “better deal” and Jurgen Klopp may opt to keep Lucas in January.
Fans expected Lucas’ substitute appearance against Manchester City on New Year’s Eve to be his final game in a red shirt but they may see him again at Anfield if the deal falls through.
Most fans will be happy if that’s the case – Lucas is a firm fan favourite – although not all of them think that way.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Makes no sense letting a key versatile experienced squaddie go in Jan. He could have a big role if we get injuries.

The Reds’ boss is believed to have given the green light on Lucas’ departure but he is unwilling to sell him for an inadequate deal.
According to the report, Inter Milan are currently willing to take Lucas on loan with the view of a potentially permanent move in the summer but they will not be 100% committed to an end-of-season buy.
Klopp wants confirmation of a permanent deal and it is believed he will hold out until Inter Milan agree the same terms or another club comes in.
Lucas joined the club in 2007 and he has gone on to make 327 appearances in all competitions during a nine-year career in Merseyside.
The Brazilian remains a bit-part player under Klopp and is not a regular first team starter.
