Liverpool fans react on Twitter to speculation January signing is edging closer

By Alex Stevens

Liverpool are preparing a January bid for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud – and fans have reacted with excitement on Twitter.

German publication Express claim the Merseysiders are ready to make an offer of £25.8million for the central midfielder when the transfer window re-opens.

It is said that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp wants to lure Dahoud in January as the German club face a losing battle to tie him to a new deal.

The midfielder was strongly linked with a move to Liverpool during the summer but his club were unwilling to sell him.

Liverpool fans are excited at fresh speculation linking the club with Dahoud, and are convinced he could strengthen Klopp’s title-challenging side.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Dahoud’s current contract expires in the summer of 2018 and the 20-year-old has reportedly resisted attempts to sign an extension.

Dahoud has slipped down the pecking order at Gladbach this season despite the departure of Granit Xhaka to Arsenal for over £30million in June.

The Germany Under-21 international has made 10 appearances for the Bundesliga, but only five of those have come in the league.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have had an outstanding start to the new season, topping the Premier League going into the international break after taking 26 points from their opening 11 matches.

Klopp’s side have produced a series of electrifying displays and are the league’s top scorers with 30 goals in the competition to date.

In other Liverpool transfer news, the Merseysiders are set to hold buy-out clause talks with a world-class playmaker.
