Liverpool are facing a battle with fierce rivals Manchester United for Gremio forward Luan, according to a report.

Brazilian local publication Gremio ZH claims that the Reds are interested in the 23-year-old, in addition to Barcelona, Juventus and United.

Although, all interest at the moment is informal it is claimed that it would take a bid over £38.8million to open talks with the Olympics star this summer.

However, the attacker would only cost £25.8million if a club was willing to to wait until January to make a move.

It is believed that the Gremio ace is interested in a move to Europe and that has increased after spending time with Neymar, Felipe Anderson, Rafinha Alcantara and Marquinhos this summer.

The one-time capped Brazil international joined the Gremio youth ranks in 2013 from Catanduvense.

The number seven enjoyed a successful campaign last season in Porto Alegre scoring six goals and providing five assists in 22 encounters in all competitions.

Luan, who has two-years left on his contract has attracted major European clubs this summer after his appearances for the Brazil Under-23’s at the Rio Olympics.

BBC Sport have claimed on their live blog (6.50pm) on Thursday night that Crystal Palace have reached an agreement with Liverpool to sign Belgium striker Christian Benteke.

Klopp could look to replace the Belgian striker, despite being behind Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi, Danny Ings and even playmaker Roberto Firmino all considered ahead of him in the battle for the spearhead role.

New attacking signing Sadio Mane also suffered an injury in a training session for the club on Wednesday.

The Reds have already added six players to their squad this summer, including the attacking additions of Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum.

The Anfield-club also didn’t look short on goals on the opening day, as they battled to a 4-3 victory against Arsenal.
