Gabon international midfielder Pierre Emerick Aubameyang has been dropped from Borussia Dortmund’s match against Wolfsburg on Sunday, according to a report.
The Sun states that the attacker has been left out due to reasons of a disciplinary nature after the 27-year-old missed a team meeting earlier in the week.
Rumours have been circulating that the Bundesliga ace, could be on his way to the Premier League this transfer window, with both Jurgen Klopp’s side and Arsenal interested in the winger.
Aubameyang is Dortmund’s top scorer this season with 17 goals and the decision to leave out the hitman will do little to quash the talk surrounding the attacker’s future in Germany.
Football Insider verdict:
Certainly, it would be fair to say that this is a transfer that is building in momentum. With the news emerging from Germany that the winger has been dropped from the side, it can only be a matter of time before the player’s exit is announced. Both Liverpool and Arsenal have been linked with the Gabon international lately, and he is the sort of player that would suit the Premier League. However, it is questionable whether the Reds even need the added firepower that would be gained from Aubameyang’s signing. Arsenal are the team that desperately need a fresh boost in attack and he would be an ideal replacement for Sanchez, should the Chilean leave in the transfer window, as expected.
