'He knows how I feel' – Liverpool star reveals frustration at Klopp decision as Reds seeks revenge v Southampton
By Russell Edge
James Milner has admitted he has been left feeling frustrated with Jurgen Klopp’s decision to play him at left-back but insists he will stick with it.
The natural midfielder has been utilised by the German manager as a full-back ahead of Alberto Moreno, and the England man has received plaudits for a series of convincing performances.
However, the 31-year-old has admitted that he has not enjoyed playing out of position after committing to the role in an early season conversation with manager Klopp.
Despite this, Milner was adamant he was going to hold down the position as his own and remain focused and committed on doing his best wherever his manager asks him to play.
He told Sky Sports: “There have been times I haven’t enjoyed it and have been frustrated.

“He (Klopp) knows how I feel and asked me at the start of the season about my thoughts.
“I believe that once you’ve committed to something and made a decision you stick to it and do your best.”
Milner says that the learning curve has been a steep one after being thrown in at the deep end at the end of last season, but says his own versatility means he can continue to thrive.
He also knows that adapting to the role is for the best of the team, which he feels can go on to challenge for silverware.
“It’s a big change but I’ve always tried to learn throughout my career and I’ve played a lot of positions anyway,” Milner told Sky Sports.
“We’ve got a lot of great players and I think we can be successful.”
One piece of silverware Liverpool missed out on this season was the League Cup after they were knocked out over two legs by Southampton, and Milner insists revenge is on the cards when the two sides clash on Sunday.
“They cost us a cup final and that hurts,”Milner said.
“We need to make sure we turn that around, put in a good performance and get one back on them!”
