Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has praised Wayne Rooney following the Manchester United forward’s testimonial on Wednesday night.

The former Reds defender was at odds with England’s all time top-scorer for a long time on the pitch, but the pair seem to have now settled their differences off it.

Carragher took to Twitter to praise at Rooney’s choice of charities that will share the revenue from the fixture, which marks Rooney’s 12 years of service at Old Trafford.

The match made history as the first ever game between Premier League teams to be streamed live on Facebook.

The BBC claim that Rooney’s testimonial match was available to 1.7billion people worldwide on the social network via the Facebook pages of the England captain and his club United.

Rooney has been a rival of Carragher’s in both of the team he has represented in his professional career, after spending several years with Everton on Merseyside before joining Manchester United.
