Liverpool make 26-yr-old first choice to fill No6 role as summer transfer plans explained - Times

By Richard Parks
Liverpool have made Napoli midfielder Jorginho their first choice as they look to sign a number six this summer, according to a report.
The Sunday Times claim the Merseyside giants want to make three major signings in the forthcoming window as they look to improve on a season that promises much in the coming weeks.
It is said that manager Jurgen Klopp is also in the market for a replacement for Philippe Coutinho and new goalkeeper to replace exit-bound Simon Mignolet.
Liverpool have placed AS Roma’s Alisson top of their wishlist but have paused their interest amid talk of a valuation placed at £60million and £90million while the player’s representatives aim to bring the price tag down.
The Times’ report doesn’t name who the Reds want to Coutinho, but does reveal Napoli’s Jorginho is Klopp’s first choice for the midfield anchorman role.
Football Insider verdict:
With Emre Can set to leave Liverpool this summer and scheduled summer arrival Naby Keita regarded as more of a No8 who creates and scores goals, the Merseysiders are crying out for a midfield enforcer who can protect the back four and start off the team’s attacks. Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Georginio Wijnaldum are all fine players and great squad men, but are they good enough to play week in, week out for a title-winning team? Probably not. Jorginho’s defensive expertise and smoothness on the ball have helped  take Maurizio Sarri’s team to the top of Serie A, and there are few more influential footballers in his position in Europe. He would be a brilliant signing.
In other Liverpool news, Sky have claimed that the Merseyside giants have already made phone calls about signing BRILLIANT Tottenham player this summer.
