Paul Robinson is "100 per cent" sure Darwin Nunez will prove his worth to Liverpool this season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Spurs and England number one said the "stop-start" nature of the 23-year-old's season is to blame for his indifferent form.

Nunez has failed to establish himself as a starter in Jurgen Klopp's side since his £85million move from Benfica in the summer.

Speaking to the Daily Mail (16 September), ex-Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher backed the centre-forward to come good.

Carragher said Nunez "causes big problems for the opposition" because of his physical attributes.

When asked by Football Insider if he shared Carragher's optimism, Robinson said: "100 per cent.

"I'm sure he will come good.

"It has been stop-start for him so far. He had an indifferent pre-season but then started the actual season really well with goals against Man City and Fulham.

"The sending off against Crystal Palace was far from ideal though. It probably unsettled him and ruffled his feathers.

"When he gets stability and the team starts winning I think he will come good.

Liverpool

"I think Liverpool will improve a lot as a team. They have fallen behind in the early part of the season but there is more to come from them, Nunez included.

"I think he will play well when the team play well. He is a proven goalscorer. He just needs the service."
