Liverpool news: Pundit issues 'brutal' verdict after Thiago Alcantara footage emerges
Kevin Campbell has suggested Thiago Alcantara’s fitness and availability will be pivotal for Liverpool this season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Arsenal and Everton striker said the 31-year-old now knows how “brutal” the Premier League can be.
Thiago starred for Liverpool in the FA Community Shield on Saturday (30 July).
The Spain international helped Jurgen Klopp’s side to a 3-1 win at the King Power Stadium.
As shown on his personal Twitter (1 August), the centre-midfielder has been putting in extra hours outside of training to improve his strength and conditioning.
Thiago has suffered with numerous injuries since arriving at Anfield in September 2020.

When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on Thiago’s injury record, Campbell said: “Listen, one thing we do know is that the season is a war of attrition.
“Liverpool know the course and distance. They have won it before and have missed out by a point a couple of times.
“The Community Shield is the first trophy of the season. I know a lot of people think it isn’t but it is a trophy. Liverpool have got that in the bag.
“The key is to keep your best team fit as long as you can. Thiago is one of Liverpool’s best players.
“He knows the Premier League is brutal and he knows he has to put in the extra work to keep himself tip top. If he is carrying any knocks he won’t be able to perform like that.
“He was unbelievable in the Community Shield. He is an excellent player.”
