We want Gotze, we'll get Balotelli - Liverpool fans react on Twitter to rumoured move for German forward
By Coral Barry
Liverpool are ready to swoop for Bayern Munich’s unsettled Mario Gotze – but Twitter does not rate the Merseyside giants’ chances.
Football Insider revealed on Monday night that Liverpool are hopeful of snapping up Gotze for as little as £20million in the summer.
Gotze, 23, has repeatedly been linked with a move to Anfield since his former Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp took over at Liverpool in October and Sky Sports sent social media into a frenzy on Tuesday by substantiating written reports in England over the last 48 hours.
The attacking midfielder scored the winning goal in the 2014 World Cup final and has four Bundesliga titles to his name and Twitter is sceptical of a player of his calibre choosing to move to Liverpool.
liverpool is getting gotze? ill believe it when i see it. no way the world will be that kind to me

I will believe Gotze is coming to Liverpool when I see him leaning against something at Melwood in Liverpool kit #LFC

Don't fancy us to sign Gotze. Hope I'm wrong, just can't see it happening unfortunately #LFC

These two below believe that Liverpool are incapable of attracting football’s biggest stars regardless of Klopp’s relationship with Gotze.
Unfortunately for one of them, he does not seem to realise Danny Drinkwater is on the verge of winning a Premier League winners medal with Leicester five points clear at the top of the table.
Would be sick having Gotze at Liverpool, but we'll probably end up with Danny Drinkwater #GotzeLFC

We want Mario Gotze.. We'll end up with Mario Balotelli #LFC

Despite the pessimism, there are plenty of Liverpool supporters who would love to see the German in a red shirt and are unable to contain their excitement at the prospect of Gotze arriving at Anfield.
This tweet below sums up their reaction to the news.
