Liverpool manager Arne Slot is fighting for his job after his side were knocked out of the Champions League by PSG on Tuesday.

Ousmane Dembele’s brace saw the visitors win 2-0 at Anfield, with it now confirmed that the Reds will finish the season without a trophy.

Slot had already been under mounting pressure at Liverpool, with the sudden availability of Andoni Iraola to give decision-makers something to think about.

Bournemouth confirmed on Tuesday that the Spaniard will leave the club at the end of his contract this summer.

Iraola is expected to be among several names in the race to be appointed as Liverpool’s next manager, should Slot be dismissed.

Iraola’s Bournemouth exit was confirmed on Tuesday, with the 43-year-old deciding against signing a new contract.

The Spaniard has been in charge of the Cherries for just three years, but has made a revolutionary impact at the Vitality Stadium.

His first season saw his team set a new points record for Bournemouth in the Premier League, a record they would go on to break in his second season.

While the Cherries will not do it a third time this campaign, they could still achieve a highest-ever finishing position and even qualify for Europe.

Next season, they will have to go without Iraola, who has attracted interest both in the Premier League and across the continent.

Liverpool could well be among the clubs looking for a new manager in the summer, with Slot appearing on the verge of the sack.

One major bookmaker has narrowed Iraola’s odds of being named as the Dutchman’s replacement to 6/1, while Xabi Alonso remains the overwhelming favourite at 1/3.
