Liverpool are planning to offload Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain when his contract expires next summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The England international, 29, has slipped down the Anfield pecking order and injury has kept him out of team so far this season.

Notwithstanding the injuries that have plagued his Liverpool career, the club and manager Jurgen Klopp do not see Oxlade-Chamberlain as part of their first-team plans beyond this season.

He is out of contract next summer and is set to be offloaded six years after his £35million arrival from Arsenal.

Liverpool are not expected to offer Oxlade-Chamberlain an extension to his current agreement, as he is not regarded as a key player by Klopp.

Nevertheless, the Merseysiders are unlikely to let the versatile midfielder, who sources say was valued at £25m last year, leave on a cut-price January deal.

Instead, the player is set to run down his deal and listen to what will be multiple offers for his services at the end of the season from clubs home and abroad.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is currently sidelined through an injury that will keep him out until at least October.

He has not had a single minute of playing action this season after playing a full part in Liverpool's pre-season programe.

Klopp omitted the midfielder from Liverpool's Champions League squad for the group stages, which conclude on 1 November.

Aston Villa

Oxlade-Chamberlain has made 133 appearances for the Merseysiders during his six seasons at the club.

He stayed clear of injury last season but was restricted to just nine Premier League starts among 29 appearances in all competitons.
