Liverpool player ratings v Crystal Palace: 27-year-old is 2/10
By Amir Mir
Football Insider rates the Liverpool players out of ten following their 2-1 defeat against Crystal Palace at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
Simon Mignolet 6 – Two goals conceded by the Belgian shot-stopper, who would be disappointed with his defence for not dealing with the ball leading up to the goals.
Nathaniel Clyne 5 – Not a real threat when going forward and needs to take more risks in the final third.
Joel Matip 4 – Poor display from the German, who was caught out of position for the first goal added with the fact that the experienced player should have provided the leadership needed at the back.
Dejan Lovren 2 – The 27-year-old is simply not good enough and should be sold in the summer. He was all over the place for the two goals that were scored by Christian Benteke.

James Milner 6 – Mixed performance from Milner, who at times can look very good then turn average. The former Leeds player should not have allowed Yohan Cabye to cross the ball for the opening goal.
Georginio Wijnaldum 4- Poor performance from the summer signing, who failed to provide any drive going forward or anything of note when on the ball. He was very quiet.
Lucas Leiva 4 – The versatile player lost the ball on the halfway line in the lead-up to the second goal. His performance levels dipped in the second half.
Emre Can 4 – Hopeless display from the midfielder, who couldn’t string a decent number of passes together during the game. Too weak on the ball.
Roberto Firminio 5 – He will be disappointed he could not provide the bite needed in the final third as he struggled to get on the scoresheet.
Divock Origi 4 – Simply not good enough and not a 20 goal a season striker. Another player who went missing as Origi couldn’t lead the line as his team search for Champions League football.
Philippe Coutinho 7 – Scored a brilliant free kick as he was the only player producing the magic for the home team. It is fair to say he is back to his best after a poor start to the calendar year.
In other Liverpool news, the Reds should give up the reported pursuit of this top rated German talent.
