Liverpool player ratings v Leicester: Duo are 2/10

By Amir Mir

Football Insider rates the Liverpool players out of ten following their 3-1 defeat against Leicester City on Monday night.

Simon Mignolet 6 – Three goals conceded and not at fault for any of them proves how poor his team were.

Nathaniel Clyne 4 – Provided nothing in attack and not strong enough in defence. He should have stopped Christian Fuchs from crossing the ball for the third goal.

Joel Matip 3 – As a recognised centre-back he should have commanded his area more and ensured his team cleared the danger for the second and third goals.

Lucas Leiva 2 – Shocking, not a centre-back, cannot head the ball and couldn’t deal with Jamie Vardy’s directness.

James Milner 3 – Another player who had a poor game and constantly found himself out of position. New left-back needed in the summer.

Adam Lallana 4 – At times, he produced something in attack, but in truth was quiet for the majority of the game. Christian Fuchs beat him too easily as his cross resulted in the Foxes’ third goal.

Emre Can 2 – Not strong enough and was simply outplayed in midfield. The German couldn’t build up play and couldn’t handle the movement of Vardy.

Georginio Wijnaldum 3 – Simply anonymous. Went missing when his team needed defensive solidity and provided nothing in attack.

Sadio Mane 5 – One of the more poorer games from the Senegal international who couldn’t provide the threat in the final third. His team’s inability to string passes together didn’t help.

Roberto Firminio 4 – The poorest of the Liverpool attackers. The versatile attacker couldn’t get hold of the ball and produce that moment of magic for his team.

Philippe Coutinho 4 – He did very well to score his goal and whenever he was on the ball he tried a shot on goal. Unfortunately for him, he couldn’t produce the goods.
