Hammer blow: Joe Gomez has also been ruled out for the rest of the season

Liverpool defender Joe Gomez has informed fans he has no trouble with his knees after he revealed on Thursday he has suffered an injury setback.

As reported by Football Insider, Jurgen Klopp will search the transfer market for a new centre-back after suffering two injury blows from Mamadou Sakho and Gomez.

Sakho will also be out for a month after suffering an Achilles injury, which means the Merseysiders only have two senior centre-backs at the club in Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip.

It is said Gomez worked extremely hard on his rehabilitation with the club’s medical and sports science staff at Melwood over the summer.

The young Liverpool ace took to his personal Instagram account to inform supporters of his situation, which would please the Liverpool faithful.

“Setback in my return to training with an Achilles tendinopathy,” Gomez wrote on his Instagram account. “Rehab is rarely a smooth path. No issues with my knee… Feels strong and healthy.

“Thanks for the messages of support. I’ll be hungrier than ever when I return! “Perseverance is stubbornness with a purpose”

Here is Gomez posting a picture of him training in the gym on his personal Instagram account.

The 19-year-old ruptured his crucial ligaments last October and was close to returning to full training, instead the youngster will now miss the start of the season.

The Reds recently sold veteran defender Martin Skrtel to Turkish giants Fenerbache for a fee of £5.5 million, whilst the unwanted duo of Jose Enrique and Kolo Toure were released.

The England under-21 international made his move from Charlton to Liverpool in the summer of 2015 for a fee of £3.5 million.

The London-born defender was highly praised for the maturity he showed during his brief five game spell for the club, before suffering injury.

In other Liverpool team news, manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed he has held talks with the clubs £16 million striker and has informed him he has no future at Anfield.
