Liverpool could throw their hat into the ring for Real Betis goalkeeper Antonio Adan for a second time, according to a report.
Spanish publication claim Estadio Deportivo claim Jurgen Klopp’s side are long-term admirers of the 29-year-old stopper, but must rival French giants Marseille for his signature.
It is believed the former Real Madrid goalkeeper is yet to put pen to paper on a new contract, with his current deal set to expire in 2018 and possesses a release clause worth £6.8million.
This comes after Spanish outlet Marca claimed Liverpool were interested in the goalkeeper back in January, with Marseille also said to be holding a long-standing interest in Adan.
The one-time Spain international has made 33 appearances for Betis this season, captaining his side on occasion and keeping a total of 10 clean sheets in Spain’s top flight.
Known for his shot-stopping abilities as well as his leadership qualities in Betis’s side, he has helped them steer clear of a potential relegation dog fight by sitting in a safe 15th place.
Football Insider verdict:
Liverpool desperately need a new goalkeeper. Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius have simply not been good enough for the Reds this season, and former Borussia Dortmund manager Klopp must be ready to strengthen his position between the sticks if he wants to mount a title challenge with the Merseyside giants next season. The duo have both made a number of high-profile mistakes this term, and although Mignolet has started to show signs of consistency, a new goalkeeper should still be acquired. However, it should be questioned whether Adan is the man to stop the leak at the back. Although a top goalkeeper with experience, the Reds should surely enter the market for England number one Joe Hart.
