Report: Klopp eyes swoop for England international, player wants Liverpool move

By Dominic Toner

Liverpool are interested in signing Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart next summer, according to a report.

The Mirror claim that the Merseyside club are watching the developments of the 29-year-old, but Italian club Torino are seriously interested in a permanent deal.

Hart is currently on a season-long loan at Torino and is enjoying regular first team football, but it’s reported that is interested in a move to Anfield.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has experienced some difficulty with his goalkeepers this season, with Loris Karius or Simon Mignolet have failed to cement the number one jersey.

Klopp would not be able to make a move for England shot stopper Hart until summer 2017 and will have to make do with his current options this season.

Hart completed a move to Torino in the summer transfer window after failing to impress newly-appointed Man City manager Pep Guardiola.

The England international has made 15 appearances for the Italian outfit, with all of them coming in the Serie A league.

He does have great experience of the Premier League and could be the man to provide some reliability in defence.

Hart has made 348 appearances for Man City and has won the league title twice in England, something Liverpool are trying to achieve this season.

Football Insider verdict:

Liverpool should seriously consider a move for goalkeeper Joe Hart next summer and he could be the answer to their current goalkeeper problem. German Loris Karius is still adapting to the Premier League and could benefit from working with Hart, while the Reds supporters have always had questions marks over Simon Mignolet’s ability. Liverpool will be frustrated that they can’t move for Hart in the January window as he completes the rest of his loan, but he would still be a good player to have next season. The Merseyside club want to challenge for the title and the Man City goalkeeper would add some real leadership and quality to the squad.
